site preparation tips
Selecting the best site and preparing it correctly make the installation and maintenance of your Playhouse as simple as possible
- When you are deciding where to locate your Playhouse, choose an area that is high, level and dry
- The site should be within view for easy adult supervision
- Mark out an area at your selected site that is one foot greater than the overall dimensions of your Playhouse
- TIP: You can use your garden hose for the outline.
Practical Folly Playhouses can be placed on the lawn, but we strongly recommend one of the following two methods for preparing the ground for placement:
Method 1:
- Dig down the area you have marked out to a depth of 6" (15 cm)
- Fill this area with traffic bond gravel and compact it with a tamper.
- Make sure the compacted surface of the gravel is 1" (2.5 cm) higher than the surrounding area.
Method 2:
- Dig down 2" (3 cm). (If the area is currently lawn you need only strip the sod away.)
- Fill the area you have dug out with coarse sand to the same level as the surrounding area.
- Place cement patio pavers over the area such that the pavers are level, tight together and cover an area a few inches greater than the playhouse base.
You are now ready to install your Playhouse.
